So leo tutaenda kuangalia, jinsi ya kuifanya nyumba yako inukie vizuri muda wote, na nitaangalizia hili katika kila chumba ndani ya nyumba. Am going to start with kitchen, bathroom and then bedroom na kuendelea with the rest of the house. So read till the end, coz you’re about to freshen up that house!

    Kitchen

    As a lot is being cooked up in the kitchen, and so are foul odors that are being cooked in the kitchen’s air! Here are tips to help you fix that;

    • Start with your sink. Masinki yetu ya kuoshea vyombo tend to emit bad smell if not cleaned well. Chukua white vinegar, baking powder, liquid soap and vanilla extract (kama unayo) chaganya pamoja, then mimina mchanganyiko huo kwenye sinki lako. This will take out the bad smell from your sink all the way the drainage system.

    • Clean your fridge. Have a routine of cleaning your fridge thoroughly. Kua pia na routine ya kuangalia vitu vilivyo haribika ndani ya fridge lako uvitoe pia. You don’t have to wait hadi uinginze new groceries ndio usafishe fridge lako. You don’t have to be welcomed by a foul smell when you open your fridge ndivyo ujue kwamba your fridge need some cleaning.

Clean your garbage bin daily. If you keep garbage bin in your kitchen, tend to clean it every single day. If you leave trash in your bin for more than a day, it will eventually start to emit some foul smell. A good routine will be cleaning it every evening after preparing your dinner. To make your garbage bin smell good, sprinkle baking soda in it once it’s clean. Baking soda ina neutralise harufu mbaya.

Boil aromatic spices. Sote tunajua harufu ya viungo inavyopendeza puani mwetu pale mtu anapokika pilau. Well, huwezi kupika pilau kila siku, but what you can do is boil some herbs, or aromatic spices kama mdalasini, hiriki. You can even make yourself some masala tea, this way your kitchen will not just smell good, but you’ll also have some nice drink to refresh yourself afterwards.

    Bathroom

Jiekee utaratibu wa kusafisha bathroom yako kila siku, even if you’re the only person using it. The cleaner the bathroom is, the more fresh it smells. The use of nice smelling cleaning liquid soap will help making your bathroom smell good. Kua na habit pia ya kutumia nice smelling shower gels, they will surely make your bathroom smell very nice.

    Bedroom

    A lot happens in here, the snores, the drooling and that morning smell!! So end of the day vyumba vyetu tend to accommodate some foul smells from ourselves every single day. I know how annoying is it to come back home after a long day, halafu the first thing that says hello to you pale unapoingia chumbani kwako, are some left over wired smells from morning. But don’t you worry, here below is how to fix that;

Clean bedsheets. You need to change your bed sheets very often. Use laundry soften soap when you wash them, to make them smell fresh and feel soft as well.

Keep your under bed clean. Kama kitanda chako kina uvungu, make sure you clean it regularly. Clean under bed, keeps your room from smelling like a dungeon!

Spray an air freshener. Best time to do it is when you’re leaving in the morning to go to work or run some errands. Close all the windows and pull down curtains. By the time unarudi home later in the day, you’ll find your bedroom smell as fresh as ever! Unaweza kutumia air freshener ya fragrance yoyote unayoipenda. To me, lavender is my number one choice!

    Living Room

Your living room, ndio most popular room in the house. Since it’s the room that we entertain ourselves and our guests as well, so making it smelling good is top priority! Now let’s see how you can make that happen.

Take care of your carpet. If you have carpets or rugs in your living room, hakikisha linasafishwa kila mara. Sweep it daily, kama una vacoom cleaner vacoom it as much as possible. We sometimes split liquid into them, kwa hivyo yasiposafishwa huwa yanatoa harufu ya uvundo, and you don’t want that for your guests.

Mind your sofas. Kama sofa zako ni za velvet or any other materials other than leather ni vyema ukawa unazisafisha regularly. Hii ni kwasababu, hua zina accommodate harufu kirahisi sana. Either it’s the smells from our own bodies (perfumes ect), or from splitting liquids onto them. Kama ilivyo kwa carpets, sofa nazo pia usipozisafisha kwa muda mrefu tend to make your living smell like a dungeon.

Use air diffuser. Pour some essential oil of your like into it to make your living room smell just the way you want! Unaweza pia ukachanganya two different scents just to get crazy with it.

Burn some ouds. Kwa wale wanaopenda harufu ya udi, choma udi sebuleni mwako even twice a day kama ukiweza. Kama huna kichochezo, or you’re allergic to smoke, sprinkle some oud into the boiling water. Mvuke utakazo toka utanifanya sebule yako inukie vizuri mno. I’ve tried this trick myself and it’s very effective.

Light some candels. Washa your favourite scented candles in your living room. Candles will give you a bonus tip of making your room look comfy, warm and inviting.

Open all the windows. Let’s some fresh air come in. Kama unatumia an AC ndani mwako, you can turn it off for a while and let some fresh air bless your living room. Hii pia inasaidia to keep the bad smell in your living room at bay.

And just like that, your house will smell good always. You’ll feel not just proud when accomodating your guests but also comfortable. Please let me know in the comment section below, which tip have you tried already and which one you’re going to.

  • Furniture Layout Mistakes That Most Of Us Do

Hellow! Welcome again to Nyumba Nzuri Decor blog. Its another day of an interesting talk on home decor. So read till the end kujua ni nini nimekuandalia leo, and i hope you are going to enjoy it!

We tend to arrange furniture in ways that we feel comfortable, or make our homes look nice. Lakini katika kufanya hivyo, kuna makosa ambayo tumekua tukiyafanya, mostly without knowing them. So leo tunaenda kuona ni makosa gani hayo na ni jinsi gani ya kuyaepuka.

    1. Don’t Line Up All the Furniture Along the Wall

This may be the easiest way to arrange your furniture, but trust me, this makes your living room feels like a high school boarding room. Ukizipanga fenicha zako zote ukutani, unayafanya hata macho yasipate kutulia pale yanapoangaza chumba coz they will be looking all the way along the wall.

To avoid this, pull some furniture away from the wall. Inaweza ikawa kochi moja au hata mawili. This will surely give your space a warm and inviting look.

    2. Don’t Use Too Many/ Too Few Furniture Pieces

Try to always creat a balance. Do not over crowd your space with furniture, doesn’t matter how bad you need them. Kama sebule yako ni ndogo na haiwezi kutosha ku-accomodate a coffe table you can opt to use a glass table, coz glass table takes up less visual space.

A glass coffee table take less of visual space in a busy room

Less furniture in a huge space doesn’t make the place look neat of clean, instead unafanya sehemu yako ionekane hollow and less inviting.

    3. Don’t Create An Uncomfortable Seating Area

Best way to arrange your seating area, is in a way that people will face eachother when talking. Epuka kuzipangilia fenicha zako katika namna ambayo itafanya wageni wako wapeane ubavu pale wanapofanya mazungumzo.

To fix this, arrange your sofas in an island kinda a way, or arrange them in a 90 degree angle. This will make your guests feel comfortable when making conversations.

    4. Don’t Use Wrong Sized Area Rug

Umuhimu wa kutumia rugs ni ku-spice up muonekano wa furniture arrangements. So ukitumia a wrong sized rug, itakifanya chumba chako kionekane unbalanced and totally uncomfortable.

To fix this, you should make sure your rug either fits all your furniture on it. Or the front legs of your chairs should be on the rug. Your chairs can also be off the rugs completely and leave the coffee table on it alone. Never make a mistake of having three legs of your chair on the rug and one off. It wil make your chair rock when you sit on it, and creat unnecessary uncomfortability.

    5. Don’t Arrange The Sofa With Its Back On The Door

When you position the sofa with it’s back to the door means whoever seats there will have hard time knowing who enters the room. And this is the most uncomfortable situation to put your guests in, coz one may feel that someone can sneak on him/her at any time.

To fix this, unaweza ukaweza a console table nyumba ya hilo sofa. Weka a table lamp, or kitu chochote kirefu. This is to somehow make yoyote atakae kaa hapo feel protected. The best way is avoid this arrangement at all, if you can

    6. Blocking Windows

Avoid putting furniture infront of windows as much as possible. Natural light flow is very important to the room. Chumba kisipopata mwanga wa kutosha, kinaonekana kidogo and also dangy.

Kama ukilazimika ku place fenicha zako usawa wa madirisha, hakikisha that particular furniture does not cover half of the size of the window. Another tip ni kuweka vioo ndani mwako so as to allow more light to be reflected in.

    7. Don’t Ignore Importance of Traffic Flow

Ni vyema unapopangilia fenicha zako basi uka-consider ni jinsi gani people in your house will be commuting about it. Inakera kushindwa kutembea hatua mbili bila ya kujikwaa kwenye mguu wa sofa or kujigonga kwenye kona ya coffee table.

Arrange your furniture in a way that, it will be easy for people in your house to walk around comfortably without taking an awkward zig zag route.

    8. Not Arranging Activity Zone

Tones of activities can be done in our living rooms. Reading, watching TV, playing games , having conversations, seating for a cup of coffee. Just to mention a few.

Unapo pangilia fenicha zako, ni vyema ukazipanga katika namna ambayo ita-identify kila activity na mahala pake. Hakikisha mpangilio wako pia una- consider proper lighting and seating accordingly with the given activity. For example, a reading area fits better close to the window than a place to seat and watch TV.

Thank you for reading mpaka mwisho. Please tell me on comment section below, ni topic gani you wish me to talk about on the next blog post.

    8. Multifunctional Spaces

Lockdown imechangia sana kuzifanya spaces zetu zitumike for more than one purposes. Spending time indoor, imepelekea nyumba zetu kua na home offices, libraries and even workout rooms. If you have picha za pamoja hang them on the wall, or kama zipo kwenye frame you can just stick them ukutani pia, or even on side table. A memorable photo gallery, makes anyone who sees it smile and feel impressed!

    4. Romanticise the Bed!

Well, it’s Valentine’s Day! That bed gotta look different! Nunua bedsheets mpya zenye rangi za off red, even light purple and mix them with white ones or just go with the colour he likes. Kama unapenda duvet, you can spread it on top of your bed to make it feel more warm. Again, red colour sikushauri coz wanaume wengi wanahisi it’s feminine. So if you want to make the room for him, avoiding using red bed sheets.

    5. Let There Be Some Candles

Let the candles spark some romantic magic in your room. Sikushauri ununue scented candles coz wanaume wengi sio wapenzi wa harufu kali. So just buy candles of different size and colors, na sio lazima iwe mingi ( just 3 can be enough). Iweke kwenye side table. For a better view, place then at the corner.

    6. Add Some Music

Come up with a romantic playlist, or the songs you enjoy together. Music brings back memories and make us miss the old good days! Ni vyema kama ukafungilia sauti ya chini, low volume creates a sense of calmness and relaxation.

    7. Take Out Distractions

Since you want to make the room for Valentine’s Day purposes, ni vyema ukaondoa vitu ambavyo vikawa-distract. Vitu kama laptops, simu, au hata Tv, vinatu-distract kirahisi, and you may end up chasing away the romantic vibe you’ve created. Sio lazima uvitoe ndani ya chumba, if you don’t have enough space, you can also turn them off.

Hopefully this article was helpful! Kila la kheri girls on turning up that room for him!
